The other day I saw the male osprey jump on the females back several times and then flew away and I have not seen him since. Did he leave her? Is this normal osprey behavior?
The male is still there. The female does the majority of incubating. He'll bring her fish and take over for a while to give her time to eat. Otherwise he'll be perched in nearby trees.

ReplyDeleteThere were 3 eggs and now 2 have hatched. If the third egg does not hatch,
ReplyDeletewhat will the osprey do with the egg?
